Started as a senior project by a College of the Atlantic student, Cafe This Way has a reputation for serving up one of the best breakfasts in town.
The kitchen opens at 7 am, and my brother says the food tastes best after a pre-dawn bike ride up Cadillac Mountain to watch the sun rise (the rising sun hits the top of Cadillac Mountain before any other place in the United States), but all I did was roll out of bed and it tasted just fine.
The menu has quite a selection in the Benedicts column: Canadian bacon, smoked trout or smoked salmon, tomato and spinach with artichoke hearts, or veggie-bacon with mushrooms and onions.
I went with the smoked trout, which was salty and delicious. The Hollandaise had a nice kick of lemon, though there wasn't quite enough of it. Muffin undertoasted, potatoes good but a touch boring.
Highly recommended is Kit’s Breakfast Burrito, a burrito of sausage and peppers heaping with guacamole and sour cream.
