Cozy atmosphere, delicious coffee, mediocre eggs Benedict. As my co-bruncher put it when Lyle Lovett came on the music system: “This is definitely a chick brunch place. I think it’s the steel-cut oatmeal.”
The homemade English muffins had to be steel-cut, too. I wondered why the eggs Benedict arrived with a steak knife, until I tried to slice through the muffin: each piece took seven cuts to separate.
On the positive side, Prune serves nine types of bloody Mary, each with a tiny beer back. When the check finally came (the line-item said “Benny”), it was weighed down by little .10€ licorice coins.
