Hótel Geysir

Our dinky rental car couldn’t handle the evening ice on our mid-winter way round Iceland’s Golden Circle.

With only a few hours of light to work with, we opted to spend an early night at Hótel Geysir, just ten minutes down the road from the magnificent waterfalls at Gullfoss.

The hotel seemed abandoned, with maybe two other guests in sight, but the kitchen still managed to serve up a decent steak with pepper sauce.
