The eggs Benedict at the Cupping Room Cafe may not be ideal, but what would certainly be considered a disappointment on Sunday afternoon was strangely passable on a weekday at 9 am when the rest of Soho was just waking up. The staff was still half asleep, but the Enya playing suspiciously loud overhead suggested they were trying to get with it.

Swimming somewhere under a too-thick and too-lemony hollandaise, the eggs were actually quite good — runny enough to make you hope that they came from good chickens.

The mushy untoasted muffin was unappealing, as were the mealy hash browns with onions, tomatoes, and peppers.

Of course, there are better early-morning options in Soho (e.g. soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers at Balthazar from 7:30 on), but if you need a fix of eggs Benedict and bracing hollandaise before rolling in to work at your disintegrating Silicon Alley firm, Cupping Room will oblige.
